Douglas Motorsport have signed the first female competitor for the all new 2013 BRDC Formula 4 championship – BMW Talent Cup star Malgosia Rdest.

Having started her career in the Polish Amateur Karting League, Malgosia marked herself out as being a future star with regular success right from the start. With a number of victories in the KF2 category in Poland and Italy during 2010 and 2011, Malgosia qualified for the Formula BMW Talent Cup for the 2012 season. Having enjoyed the step up to true single seater racing, Rdest is now looking for her next challenge and has chosen Formula 4 as the ideal next step in her career as she aims to become the first Polish Female driver in a top international motorsport series. “Formula 4 is a really huge challenge for me. Everything is brand new – new series, new car and new team,” said Malgosia this week. “I’m thrilled to join Douglas Motorsport. I’m also convinced that, at this point, it is the best possible solution for me. Douglas Motorsport has history, vast experience and offers an individual approach towards its drivers. Moreover, all the team members are really enthusiastic about racing, just as I am! I am really looking forward to the 2013 season and can’t wait for the first race!”

Team Principal Wayne Douglas is delighted to welcome the first female driver into the series. “We’re really looking forward to seeing Malgosia behind the wheel of the new Formula 4 when it arrives in only a matter of days. She joined our Driver Development Programme last year and we were very impressed with her progress as she hadn’t had much single seater seat time at that point. I think we will see her spring a few surprises during the season and she will be a perfect team mate for Sennan.”
